everyone sing....! tee hee hee

yes we are all home, having had a wonderful holiday in Scotland.

It was a fab hotel and lovely area and we visited lots of places. The vast majority chosen because their family friendly and wheelchair access. Sterling castle is almost totally accessible now and there are 4 superb walks in the perthshire area which are chariot friendly!

We have come home to chaos really because the building work is in full swing and the dust and clutter make everything stressy. The builder has been great actually but there has been the enevitable balls ups. the main one is that the radiators have been left off the plan the builder has and so we have no heating. hopefully this will be addressed asap.

We have also come home to my lovely and very posh WAV new car and we have been out in it lots already.

RA wise things have been iffy at times but then Im on no treatment and I have had a lot of time with my lovely family.

Michael managed to get 3 Cs for Maths English and Science and the rest are Ds (apart from ICT and PE (U and F) for which he did no work as was cock sure of himself) so we are hoping its enough for his college course. Interview wednesday.
I think I deserve GCSE in adoptive parenting!!!

really nice to be back on here.

my pre op is on the 9th for my knee, bit nervous about that but I will be able to go to the appointment by myself in my new WAV wont I?

Wow Jenni - Three C's - that is absolutely amazing when you consider all that lad has been through in his short life. Nothing short of mirculous, really. Aint God good?!

So pleased you had such a great holiday - can we come next year and I'll bring the chariot?!!! I've loved seeing all your photo uploads and am looking forward to more.

Sorry about the mess at home - we've just got rid of the decorator and sorted everything out and the tiler is coming to re tile the kitchen tomorrow, so I guess it'll be messed up again. Like yours - it'll all be worth it when it's finished. Sure hope you get those rdaiators in soon though. We had our heating on last night it was so cold.

When are you hoping to go in for the knee replacement? Will be praying for you on the 9th - and of course every night as we already do!!

Speak soon

MUCH love and so good to have you back with usSmile

Hi Jenni,

Wow, well done to Michael! You are so right Jenni, you deserve an award for your parenting, without your support he would never have got those grades. You must be so proud of him!
Glad you enjoyed your holiday, and hope all goes well for your pre-op on the 9th.
I had my pre-op about 14 weeks ago and I've now postponed the op till November so wonder if I'll get another one!

Love Doreen xx

Welcome back Jenni. We missed you.

I have been following your holiday via your photos and you certainly did have a good time. Just what the old batteries needed I expect. Spending quality time with the family can be just as good as any medication.

Well done to Michael and I hope he gets into college. Who will be more nervous on Wednesday for his interview you or him? I expect you as the young ones seem to breeze through these things.

Hi Jenni,

Ask when you go for the pre-op.
Some consultants prefer to do it under local anaesthetic, others prefer GA.
Luckily, my consultant prefers the GA !

I have been awake for my hip and both knee replacements. You are, however, given loads of sedation so it's just like being asleep. Don't fret - easy for me to say because I was petrified before my first but it really and honestly was a piece of cake.
GA's are overrated in my opinion! I was happily scoffing a ham sandwich ten mins after my second op - now you couldn't do that with a General!

I know Jean, Im very sick after aneasthetics so a general doesnt fill me with glee either.

Want to give the whole thing up now!

Actually the sedation doesnt sound bad. Will they prop up my leg? I cant hold it straight.

I can only tell you what happened to me. I had a spinal which was very easy and painfree as they inject a local anaesthetic first of all. Don't worry about your holding your leg up - they'll sort it. They are used to wonky people!

I asked if they would explain in detail what would happen and they told me the first thing they would do was apply a torniquet above the knee and, when this was in place, they would start the op. Within about 4 minutes of having the spinal my legs were dead - in fact I wondered whether I still had any legs! I asked them when they were going to put the torniquet on and they informed me it had been on for a couple of minutes. They must have sedated me at that point because the next thing I knew I was in recovery demanding a ham sandwich!

Put another way, I had no qualms about having either the second knee or the hip done after the first experience. Trust your old Aunty Jean - it'll be fine xxxxx

Hi Jenni, Pleased to hear you all had a lovely holiday. Well done to Michael, and you and Richard.BigGrin Good luck to him for his college interview I hope he gets on the course he wants. From what other people tell me the staff at FE colleges always seem very supportive of their students and give them all the help they need. Good luck for the pre op as well.
